Cairo’s best bars! πŸΊπŸΉπŸΈ

Whilst there aren’t bars on every street corner, there are some real gems. I was lucky enough to meet awesome locals in most bars, even playing some of them at Pool & Chess (although I did get my panties pulled down a little bit playing Chess!). It’s important to respect the culture of the host nation. Whilst it’s fine to have drinks, don’t be pulling out Magaluf style behaviour & causing a nuisance running around naked in the streets πŸ˜‚

Without a doubt my favourite bar in Cairo, I spent a fair few evenings there watching the sunset. It’s got a beautiful rooftop terrace & indoors too. It’s not really my thing, but they also have Shisha if you would like to try. I stuck to Stella or Sakara beer, but they sell all sorts.

Top tip; this place is on the top floor of the Carlton Hotel & the entrance is just slightly off the main road. You do not need to be a guest there to visit this bar. You aren’t allowed to take the stairs & the lift has no inner door, so be careful to stand back. Click here for address

Carol bar is a cracking spot for some drinks in Downtown Cairo, the music is very chilled out & it has an amazing vibe. The locals here are very friendly. Unfortunately they do smoke indoors in Egypt, however this bar was very well ventilated etc. My favourite part is that there is no toilet attendant charging you to go for a wee, which after a few beers can get very expensive! πŸ˜‚

Top tip; If you are bothered by people smoking indoors, request to sit nearer the door for added ventilation. Click here for Address

Zamalek rooftop bar was absolutely amazing! The building itself looks like you are going to get diced up in some saw type movie, but once you work your way up to the bar, it is all worth it. You get a stunning view of the Nile & the beers are cheap & cold.

Top tip; Finding this bar isn’t easy as there is no signage out on the street, if you see Russia flags you have went past the bar & towards Russian trade embassy, turn back! Look for the entrance to a stairway, it’s quite large & obvious, don’t go in there, but to the left of it you go through what looks like a couple of shops & into the lift. Click here for address

Cap D’or is a nice little bar in Downton Cairo. It isn’t anything major or special. However, it is very authentic & the prices are really low. The bar staff are nice & they have good music on! They also constantly bring you snacks etc so it’s polite to give them a try at least.

Top tip; they do not like you taking photos inside, hence the lack of photos shared here. If the smell of smoke really bothers you, definitely ask for a seat by the door, there is the front one or a little side one. Click here for address

The large major international hotels will have bars, however these are much more expensive than the local establishments. There is also no point in going all the way to Cairo & missing out on the culture. I would definitely recommend visiting the local bars. Whilst the bars in Downtown Cairo, Zamalek & Korba District are very safe & have lovely locals, just be careful when leaving & make sure you know how you are getting back to your hotel etc.

Also they absolutely love Mo Salah over there, so if you turn up in a Liverpool shirt, you will be treated like royalty, I am not even a football fan but wish I had bought a Liverpool shirt just to wear to the bars!
